Webinar: Updates on Off-Hour Delivery Pilots Part I: The Experiences of Sao Paulo, Brazil and Copenhagen, Denmark

14 April 2016 @ 11:00 am

The Peer-to-Peer Exchange Program is designed to share global best practice cases and real world examples of sustainable urban freight systems. This program is open to anyone with a professional or a personal interest in freight transportation issues. Professional Development Hours will be provided to those interested.

The success of the Off-Hour Delivery (OHD) Program in New York City demonstrated the potential of freight demand management to reduce the externalities produced by freight activity in urban areas. The impacts included reduced congestion, more reliable goods movement, increased urban livability, and a better business environment. Following the success of the New York City OHD program, cities around the world have undertaken a number of pilot tests to analyze the potential of off-hour deliveries in their jurisdictions. This two-webinar series will provide updates on OHD pilot tests around the world. In this webinar, results of two pilots will be presented: Sao Paulo, Brazil and Copenhagen, Denmark. In the first case, OHD were tested in Sao Paulo from October 2014 to March 2015 with the participation of eleven large companies including retail chains and manufacturers. The results from Sao Paulo will be discussed and compared to the results from the OHD program in New York City. The second case will discuss the experience of the pilot of OHD in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Danish Transport Authority hired Incentive, a Danish consultancy firm, to organize trials of OHD in Denmark (2012-today) with most trials taking place in Copenhagen. This part of the presentation will highlight the experiences and the results from running trials in Denmark.

*This Peer-to-Peer webinar is eligible for 1.0 Professional Engineer Professional Development Hour (PDH).
