Low-carbon transport is a critical area if investment for both mitigation and adaptation (given the extent to which economies are dependent on vulnerable coastal transport infrastructure. For that reason the Climate Bonds Standard seeks to include low-carbon transport as an eligible asset in the green bond bond market, as well as explore fixed income financing options that can help attract the capital needed for a large scale investment in the sector.

About Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI)
The Climate Bonds Initiative is the only organization in the world focusing on accelerating the transition to a low carbon economy by shifting the largest capital market of all: the $100 trillion bond market. The aim is to grow low-carbon and other climate-relate industries at annual global rates of 30% compounded. The strategy is to develop a large and liquid Green and Climate Bonds Market that will help drive down the cost of capital for climate projects in developed and emerging markets; to grow aggregation mechanisms for fragmented sectors; and to support governments seeking to tap debt capital markets.
