Accelerating the Transition
to Sustainable E-Mobility: Opportunities and Challenges
for IsDB Member Countries

2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). The 50-Year Jubilee will be celebrated during the IsDB Annual Meeting 2024 from 27 to 30 April. It provides a great opportunity to raise the importance of transport in achieving IsDB’s goals on climate action and sustainable development.

Thus, a virtual side event by IsDB and SLOCAT aims to explore the potential of sustainable e-mobility solutions in IsDB member countries. The event will provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with transitioning to sustainable, renewable-powered e-mobility systems. IsDB will showcase recent projects, such as the pragmatic investment and implementation vision for equitable and renewable electric transport and a study on electric buses. The event will also provide an outlook towards the future of transport in IsDB member countries.

  • To facilitate a knowledge exchange platform for stakeholders to share insights, experiences, and best practices regarding the implementation of sustainable e-mobility solutions.
  • To share key findings from the recent IsDB-SLOCAT activities on equitable and renewable electric transport.
  • To inspire and catalyse action on sustainable, low carbon transport by IsDB member countries.
  • To take stock of IsDB’s achievements and provide an outlook of upcoming challenges and opportunities in the context of climate change and transport in IsDB member countries.
