Exponentially improved technologies such as solar, electric vehicles, and autonomous vehicles (self-driving), create a disruption and sweep the energy industries and transport as we know it. The same ecosystem that created Silicon Valley-based technologies bits that have caused disruption in atom based industries is creating technologies of bits and electrons that cause disruption in the industries of energy from atoms. 2. UPCOMING PROJECTS 2017
“ANTIGUA GUATEMALA FREE OF HIDROCARBONS 2030”
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Guatemala -MARN- currently has a Technical and Administrative Cooperation Agreement with Association in Peace with the Environment for the development and implementation of the GREEN ZONE ELECTROMOBILITY INITIATIVE. Therefore Association Peace with the Environment, was involved in the formulation of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) for this project, for which we were selected as implementing organization to handle the technical component and program implementation of, as a National Mitigation Action (NAMA) presented by -MARN- to be funded by NAMA Facility. The main Project of this Program is “ANTIGUA GUATEMALA FREE OF HYDROCARBONS 2030” for which the private sector has already donated a plot of land of vehicles in Antigua Guatemala to the Municipality of Antigua Guatemala with an extension of 5.6 Ha with a value of 7.7 million euros for the implementation of a trans-shipment center (Park&Ride) which complements the project of the Antigua Guatemala Loop proposed by the Municipality of Guatemala to the National Agency of Alliances for the Development of Economic Infrastructure, which includes the design, financing, construction, transfer and operation of a bypass road to Antigua Guatemala, the construction of parking solutions and new transfer stations, to improve the roads and mobility within the city, optimizing their urban characteristics, with an estimated investment of €57.7 million from the private sector in conjunction with the Municipality of Antigua Guatemala and Association in Peace with the Environment. This project will contribute to the preservation of the City of Antigua Guatemala as Humanity Cultural Patrimony City named as such by UNESCO in 1979, serving as a national reference to be replicated worldwide.
The “ANTIGUA GUATEMALA FREE OF HYDROCARBONS 2030” Project was presented at Guatemala’s Side Event at COP22 as part of the -MARN- Electromobility and Sustainable Transport Program in Guatemala, and declared as such in Guatemala’s Press Conference at COP22 by the Minister of Environment and Naturals Resources.
This Project will be launched and announced to the world press and media as an historic landmark being the first city to be declared as such in America as the main event of the 1ST NATIONAL CONGRESS AND EXHIBITION OF TRANSPORT AND ELECTROMOBILITY in Antigua Guatemala.
