IRU-UNGC Symposium: Sustainable Transport as a Driver of Economic Development in the Post-2015 Development Agenda

The International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the UN Global Compact will hold a half-day symposium to discuss the role of road transport in promoting sustainable growth, facilitating regional integration, improving safety and security, and reducing poverty.

As a key enabler of increased connectivity and mobility of people and goods, transportation has played an important role in international economy. Specifically, sustainable transport system and supply chain are essential to ensuring successful development of global trade and economic integration all over the world which benefits businesses and communities.

Bringing together government officials from UN missions and representatives of business associations, businesses, civil society, and international organizations, this event will focus ways in which sustainable road transport will advance the post-2015 development agenda and realization of the sustainable development goals.
