German Habitat Forum with Transport Focus (Berlin)

1 June 2016 @ 12:00 am

Sustainable urban solutions will play a key role with a view to achieving both the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and international climate change targets over the next decades. The German Habitat Forum will provide a platform for discussion on how to design sustainable solutions for cities in the future, and will look at the key aspects of ‘mobility’ and ‘urban infrastructure’.

The first day of the conference will be dedicated to People, Politics and Practice, and will examine already existing solutions. The second day will be dedicated to looking at concepts and conclusions for the future of urban development.

In interactive and practice-oriented formats, German and international guests will discuss policy recommendations and implementation strategies under general headings such as:

  • Making use of the opportunities offered by urbanisation
  • Developing and realising integrated urban solutions
  • Making our cities good places to live
  • Enabling cities to become active development players

The international dialogue forum in Germany will offer participants the opportunity to exchange ideas and provide useful impulses ahead of the Habitat III World Conference – the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development – scheduled to take place in Quito, Ecuador, from 17 to 20 October 2016.
