Webinar On Aviation Climate Developments
20 April 2016 @ 3:00 pm
Date: Wednesday, April 20th 2016
Time: 3:00 pm-4:00 pm (Central European Time)
Following the success of the COP21 Paris Agreement last year, emissions from the two international transport sectors – aviation and maritime – were again left to their own specialised United Nations agencies to address. This year, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), will debate the final touches of the world’s first global market-based measure for aviation, which aims to cap CO2 emissions from air transport at 2020 levels. Air Transport Action Group (ATAG) a coalition of the aviation industry focusing on sustainability issues, is organising a webinar where they will update the broader sustainable transport community on:
- the negotiations underway at ICAO;
- the political and technical questions still to be resolved before the September deadline;
- and how the discussion around a global offsetting scheme fits in with other climate action across the sector.
Speaker: Michael Gill, Executive Director of ATAG
The webinar will provide an opportunity to hear from the Executive Director of ATAG, Michael Gill, and discuss aviation’s goal of carbon-neutral growth.
