DESCRIPTION:First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels 28-29 April 2026 | Santa Marta\, Colombia \nCo-hosted by the governments of Colombia and the Netherlands\, this landmark conference is the first in a series aimed at advancing international cooperation on phasing out fossil fuel extraction. Operating outside the traditional UNFCCC framework\, it brings together government representatives\, Indigenous Peoples\, civil society\, trade unions\, and academia to explore pathways for a fast\, fair\, and financed transition. The conference is closely linked to the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative and will be accompanied by a People’s Summit\, Workers Summit\, and Climate Justice Flotilla (24-29 April). A follow-up conference hosted by Pacific nation-states is planned within a year. \nSLOCAT will be represented at this event.
