Safe and sustainable mobility are integral to achieving the theme of the 2018 HLPF, ‘Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies.’ As populations and motorization increase, it is the poorest who bear the greatest burden of unsafe roads. The health and life chances of millions are held back by inequitable access to mobility.
This luncheon side event will be an opportunity to discuss key issues, solutions, and steps to reduce the toll of road traffic injuries. It will also focus on measures to improve sustainable mobility in the urban context, and the priority of protecting children and the vulnerable.
High-level representatives are invited to sign on to the Child Health Initiative’s campaign calling for a UN Special Summit on Child & Adolescent Health. The campaign builds on the SDGs and the Habitat III New Urban Agenda call for ‘a safe and healthy journey to school for every child as a priority.’
Please RSVP by July 2 to childhealth@fiafoundation.org to confirm your attendance, indicating any dietary requirements. Please note, all attendees will need to have a UN badge to access the venue. If you do not have a UN badge, please let us know by July 5 so that we may arrange this for you. All non-badge holders are asked to meet outside at the corner of 45th and 1st Ave at 12:30pm.
