ABSTRACT:
Ms. Salvador Herrera of CTS Mexico will give a presentation about the award-winning GEF project in Mexico City, called ‘Introduction of Climate Friendly Measures in Transport.” The objective of this project was to contribute to the development of policies and measures that assist in a long-term modal shift toward climate-friendly, more efficient and less polluting, less carbon intensive transport in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area (MCMA). This project, implemented by the World Bank in close partnership with CTS and other institutions, is considered as an example of how the GEF support can help remove the political and technical barriers against the transfer of technologies. The project has had catalytic impacts on mobilizing and replicating sustainable transport solutions at the local and national levels and on delivering global environmental benefits. CTS Mexico is a non for profit organization, member of the World Resources Institute Center for Sustainable Transport (Embarq). Mr. Herrera, an urban planner, is deputy director at CTS Mexico.
