While the deliberations and eventual adoption of international sustainable development agendas such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement, the New Urban Agenda, and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction primarily took place at the global level, it is increasingly clear that implementation of these same agendas must be brought down to the regional, national and local levels. The time for implementation, follow-up, and review of these frameworks is now, and it is precisely at these levels where there are significant opportunities for the transport sector to focus its work.
SLOCAT is scaling up its role in regional activities in order to contribute to multi-stakeholder dialogue and coalition building, positioning the sustainable, low carbon transport community as a central player in the realisation of the transformation of transport.
