The need for cleaner and more efficient vehicles, public transport and adequate infrastructure for non-motorised transport in Africa is an issue that has received attention at the ongoing Transport Forum in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

PIANC’s Think Climate Coalition has released its action plan, “Navigating a Changing Climate,” to outline the work committed by the partners of the initiative to help the inland and maritime navigation infrastructure sector respond to climate change.
The European Parliament commissioned study analyses which targets would be compatible with the global long-term goal of keeping the temperature increase below 2°C compared to pre-industrial levels. The analysis supports the view that it is important to establish targets for both sectors that clearly indicate that emissions cannot grow in an unlimited and unregulated way.
On November 18, The Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT), on behalf of the Paris Process on Mobility and Climate (PPMC), led a regional dialogue on transport and climate change at the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) Ninth Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum in Asia.
