The United Nations General Assembly established a preparatory committee to carry out the preparations for the Habitat III conference open to all Member States of the United Nations and members of specialized agencies and of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) will have three meetings before the opening of the conference.
The third session of the Preparatory Committee of Habitat III (PrepCom3) was held in Surabaya, Indonesia, from 25 July to 27 July 2016. There was good representation from the transport community with a Transport Day, a number of Side Events, Press Briefing and an exhibition booth.The SLoCaT report of PrepCom3 is available here.
The second session of the Preparatory Committee of Habitat III was held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 14 April to 16 April 2015. Close to 800 participants from 90 countries attended the important meeting which is the second in a series of three.
The first session of the Preparatory Committee (Prep Comm) of the Habitat III was held in New York in 17-18 September 2014. During the Prep Comm, the SLoCaT Partnership together with EMBARQ, Ford Foundation, ITDP, and UITP held a side event “Linking Public Transportation to a New Urban Agenda”.
