On 23 September, SLOCAT, the TDA, and WBCSD co-hosted a session on Business Driving Zero-Emission Freight Transport, as part of the UN SDG Business Forum. Panelists included Andrea Meza Murillo, Minister of Environment and Energy, Costa Rica; Sita Holtslag, Senior Advisor Sustainable Mobility, Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Transport Decarbonisation Alliance); Sophie Punte, Executive Director, Smart Freight Centre, Netherlands; Rodrigo Rodriguez Tornquist, Secretary of Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Innovation, Ministry of Environment, Argentina; and David Thackray, Sales & Marketing Director, Tevva, United Kingdom.
The discussion highlighted a variety of different actions needed to decarbonise freight transport, both from the public and private sectors, and touched on current opportunities that can be leveraged to build momentum, while also noting some of the key barriers which must be addressed.
