Global Fuel Economy Initiative report: the global car fuel economy is improving steadily, but too slowly

A report for the Global Fuel Economy Initiative (GFEI) has confirmed that fuel economy regulations are markedly effective in decreasing overall fuel consumption by LDVs (light duty vehicles) without hampering overall performance or usage, but are not being implemented widely enough to secure the GFEI’s 2030 fuel economy target.

Governments Call for Eliminating Fossil-Fuel Subsidies

17 April 2015: A communiqué signed by the members of the Friends of Fossil Fuel Subsidy Reform group calls for countries to prioritize the phase-out of fossil-fuel subsidies ahead of the Paris Climate Change Conference. The Friends are urging all governments to endorse the statement; France and the US are the first countries outside the Friends groups to do so.
