Fossil Fuel Subsidy Reform can reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions Globally by 6-13%

new report from the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Global Subsidies Initiative of IISD finds that the removal of fossil-fuel subsidies to consumers (US$ 543 billion in 2014) and to society could reduce global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by between 6-13% by 2050.

New Report Calls on GEF to Prioritize Transport in GEF-6 to Support Sustainable Development and Climate Change Progress

New York, New York- From November 5-7, the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) meets at the World Bank to set its investment strategy for the coming years. A new report offers recommendations for how GEF can deliver better progress to address transportation, the fastest growing source of energy related climate change pollution. GEF is a small but vital source of funding for low-carbon pilot projects and capacity building in the transport sector for dozens of countries.
