Last November, the UN General Assembly Resolution (A/C.2/78/L.27/Rev.1) entitled ‘Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve the SDG’s” proclaimed the UN Decade on Sustainable Transport, beginning in 2026. The resolution also set a horizon for the 3rd UN Global Sustainable Transport Conference to happen in 2026. Additionally, the resolution urged closer cooperation within UN system and with other international organisations, finance institutions, donors and the private sector to advance sustainable transport in order to achieve the SDGs. These critical mandates have the potential to strengthen coherence, enable collaborative knowledge and accelerate action for sustainable, low carbon transport; which is central to SLOCAT’s mission. The resolution explicitly mentions SLOCAT as a key partnership.
