SLoCaT and Bridging the Gap recommend on COP16 outcome

The Partnership for Sustainable Low Carbon Transport and the Bridging the Gap Initiative today published recommendations to parties on the outcome of COP16 in Cancun. The aim is to describe needs to the parties of the UNFCCC from the perspective of achieving sustainable transport in developing countries. The paper will be distributed in the next days to delegates.

SLoCaT and Bridging the Gap discuss transport with the DNA Forum

On behalf of SLoCaT and the BtG initiative Cornie Huizenga made a presentation to the DNA Forum (Designated National Authorities) which is a formal network of Annex 1 and non-Annex 1 countries on CDM) on transport and NAMAs in developing countries. While transport represents less than 1% of all emission reductions under CDM, over 50% of all NAMA proposals submitted since January of 2010 include a transport component.

Advancing Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport through the GEF, an advisory document

GEF, being a major multilateral agency and being an operating entity of the financial mechanism of the UNFCCC, has a critical role to play in promoting interventions aimed at reducing GHG emissions. In this context STAP initiated a study to provide information and guidance on options for advancing sustainable low-carbon transport during GEF-5. The report was prepared by Holger Dalkmann (TRL) and Cornie Huizenga (SLoCaT).

Transport is included in NAMA submissions

The Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) submitted by non-Annex I country Parties to the UNFCCC by the 31st of January were published on 2nd February 2010.
