October 19, 2017—The transport sector is not on track towards achieving sustainable mobility, according to the Global Mobility Report launched today.
The Global Mobility Report is the first ever assessment of the transport sector. It was produced by the Sustainable Mobility for All initiative (SuM4All)—a worldwide consortium of over 50 leading organizations in the transport sector.

The International Transport Forum at the OECD has a new Secretary-General. Dr. Young Tae Kim, a Korean national, has taken up his position at the organisation’s Paris headquarters on 21 August. The Paris Process on Mobility and Climate (PPMC), a joint initiative of the Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) and Michelin Challenge Bibendum (MCB), has updated its COP 23 Planning Note.
Sustainable transport services and infrastructure are essential to achieving most, if not all, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Although sustainable transport is not represented by a standalone SDG in the 2030 Agenda, it is mainstreamed in a direct or indirect manner into several SDGs, especially those related to poverty alleviation; food security; access to health services, clean water, education, and employment; gender equality; energy; infrastructure; cities and human settlements; and climate change.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by world leaders in September 2015 and aimed at stimulating actions to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path (Figure 1).
An assessment has been developed by the Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) to evaluate the status of reporting of 18 countries in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region to the six global agreements on sustainable development and climate change.
