Learn more about innovative public transport solutions from around the globe at the The Need for Sustainable Urban Mobility event.
Cities are engines of socio-economic development. Yet, increasing populations create challenging situations for urban transport in many developing and emerging economies. Traffic congestion has become a recurrent and severe problem in many cities with a negative impact on the life of urban dwellers through negative externalities such as traffic congestion, noise and accidents. There is need for a paradigm shift towards more sustainable transport systems.
The conventional approach to address urban transport has been to build more roads – that are being overwhelmed by increased traffic soon after they are built. There are increasing opportunities to move a new level for mobility.
The objective of this side event is to discuss sustainable and innovative urban mobility solutions and facilitate exchange of participants with like-minded. Further, the side event will review the lessons learnt from the first Academy but will also seek collaboration and partnership for organizing future Academies with a broader range of supporting partners.
