Reaping Emissions Reductions from Fossil-Fuel Subsidy Reform

This side-event, organized by the Friends of Fossil-Fuel Subsidy Reform (Costa Rica, Denmark, Ethiopia, Finland, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development, will focus on the opportunities that fossil-fuel subsidy reform holds for reducing CO2 emissions, and in particular the role of the UNFCCC in supporting that process.

Training of Facilitators

From 25 November till 6 December 2013 the Capacity Development Programme was implemented in Nairobi, Kenya. Together with local organizations a partnership was formed to prepare, execute and ensure the follow-up of the Programme. The partnership existed out of: The United Nations Environment Program, Share the Road, Kenya Red Cross,  ASIRT-Kenya, PAMOJA Road Safety Initative, USALAMA Watch Initiative and YOURS – Youth for Road Safety. The Programme was funded with the support of the Road Safety Fund, Michelin and TomTom.

Urban Mobility in India

The Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Expo is an annual event with the overarching theme which runs across all the aspects of urban mobility and is organized by the Institute of Urban Transport (India) under the aegis of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. UMI is mandated by the National Urban Transport Policy of the Government of India, 2006 (NUTP). The objective of UMI is to bring together urban transport professionals and officials in the country as well as international experts to enable them to share views and to share their experiences.

Africa Transport Policy Forum

The first Africa Transport Policy Forum that will take place in Dakar, Senegal, from December 10 to 11, 2013.  The forum is a 2-day learning event that will give participants a unique opportunity to learn about and discuss high-priority transport policy issues in Africa. This event will be open to all interested participants.  

7th Session of the UN General Assembly Open Working Group on SDGs

Seventh Session of the UN General Assembly Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals will take place on 6-10 January 2014 at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The seventh session of the OWG will focus on sustainable cities and human settlements, sustainable transport, sustainable consumption and production (including chemicals and waste); and climate change and disaster risk reduction. 

OWG-Side Event: Safe, Clean, Fair and Green-Sustainable Transport in Post-2015 Agenda

Fia Foundation and the United Nations Environment Programme together with their partners will organize the event "Safe, Clean, Fair and Green: Sustainable Transport in the Post-2015 Agenda" on January 7, 2014.  The event will take place in the Conference Room E, North Lawn Building at the United Nations in New York, United States.

Review Meeting: Results Framework on Sustainable Transport

On January 8th, the SLoCaT Partnership will hold a Review Meeting on Results Framework on Sustainable Transport, at the Ford Foundation in New York.  It will be a whole day meeting (09.00 - 17.00) and the focus will be reviewing and discussing the Results Framework on Sustainable Transport; discussing the TRANSPORT DELIVERS campaign, including Transport Sector’s contribution to the Secretary General’s Climate Summit.
