Another strong voice joins the coalition! SLOCAT is happy to welcome Intro Africa Foundation to the transport partnership working collaboratively to advance sustainable, low-carbon transport for all. The foundation’s work centers around showcasing Africa’s emerging economies through sustainable business stories, highlighting innovation, positive development, and solutions while connecting audiences to new opportunities and tools for better business across the continent.
Intro Africa is a pan-African non-profit advancing inclusive and sustainable development through catalytic storytelling, real-world demonstrations, convening, research and partnership-building. After 8 years and a number of trips to the African continent, the foundation has produced 150+ stories in collaboration with its trusted partners, Thought Leader Africa, to launch its dynamic space Intro Africa.
Its sustainable-transport work is led through the Road to Africa initiative and the Africa EV Summit, connecting governments, electricity utilities, transport operators, mobility companies, researchers, development institutions and investors across Africa, the Nordics and Europe.
Intro Africa is particularly proud that Road to Africa has completed more than 26,400 electric kilometres across Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi. These journeys have demonstrated electric cars, buses and trucks in real operating conditions while building collaboration around charging infrastructure, cross-border corridors, skills, inclusive mobility and the financing required to scale the transition.
“Joining SLOCAT connects Intro Africa Foundation with a global community capable of translating sustainable-transport ambition into practical implementation. We look forward to contributing evidence from African mobility markets, amplifying locally developed solutions and building stronger links between African institutions, international partners and the investment needed to scale inclusive, low-carbon transport.”Mikkel Becker-Aakervik Co-Founder and Chair of the Board, Intro Africa Foundation
“Through its real-world demonstrations, storytelling prowess and cross-border partnerships, Intro Africa brings visibility to Africa’s sustainable transport transition, connecting innovation with policy and action”. Carly Gilbert-Patrick, Secretary General, SLOCAT Partnership
Intro Africa joining the Partnership strengthens our ability to connect global ambition with the African experiences, innovations and solutions that make sustainable transport a reality. As the first year of the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport sets the direction for the years ahead, its storytelling, real-world demonstrations and cross-border partnerships is critical in bringing African progress to the forefront, amplifying local solutions and showing what the transition looks like in practice.
We look forward to working with Intro Africa ensuring African stories inform global ambition and help shape the action, investment and partnerships needed to advance sustainable transport across the continent.
