–Diagnosis and Policy Implications of Transport for Future Earth
Friday, November 15th, 2013 @ 13:00 – 16:00-Hyatt Regency Warsaw
Transport sector is one of the most dominant emitters of CO2, similar to industrial and domestic sectors. Massive CO2 emissions from transport definitely a big cause of extreme whether. It is at the same time one of the biggest serious victims of CO2. We need therefore to diagnose the currently changing causes for transport to influence on climate changes such as economic and income growth, creating passenger travel demand and freight, emerging LCC airlines and the supporting infrastructure, and to prescribe the transport relevant policies and to discuss their implications for low carbon society.
This event demonstrates how to design long-term measures to develop low-carbon transport systems in developing, emerging and developed countries in a back-casting manner, for decoupling economic growth with CO2 emission increase.
Organized by: WCTRS (World Conference on Transport research Society) and NU-BCES (Nagoya University Global COE Programme – Basic and Clinical Environmental Studies), Supported by Global Environmental Research Fund (S6-5), Ministry of Environment, Japan

The organizers of this workshop are using the opportunity created by the presence in Warsaw of participants of the COP19 Conference *to disseminate information and facilitate discussion, about approaches to urban transport policies being promoted by international organisations and by the leading think tanks in this field. The speakers will concentrate on the idea of sustainable urban mobility, with particular emphasis on challenges of the implementation of innovative approaches, and on the transferability of lessons learned. Discussions will also be based on the recently released Global Report on Human Settlements. The event will serve to take forward the EU supported “SOLUTIONS” initiative, that looks at innovations in urban transport and their transferability in different country contexts.
