SLoCaT featured in IISD'S Bonn Climate Change Conference Coverage for Tuesday, May 16th

The Bonn Climate Change Conference continued on Tuesday, 16 May. Throughout the day, informal consultations met to discuss various issues under the 46th sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 46) and Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 46), as well as the third part of the first session on the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Paris Agreement (APA 1-3).

In the afternoon, the event on strengthening leadership on low carbon transport to deliver long term climate goals convened. This side event, organized by Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) and The Centre for European Economic Research(ZEW), presented a vision for the decarbonization of the transport sector developed by the Paris Process on Mobility and Climate (PPMC). It highlighted strategies for reaching the ambitious goals set out by the Paris Agreement, shed light on the economics of carbon pricing, and discussed with negotiators their national action plans to tackle sustainable mobility challenges.

The PPMC is an open and inclusive platform that actively invites all organizations and initiatives that support effective action on transport and climate change to join in the process. The Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) and Michelin Challenge Bibendum (MCB) have taken the initiative for the PPMC. Together they bring together over 150 organizations working on sustainable mobility representing multi- and bilateral development organizations, financing institutions, civil society and foundations, academe and the business sector.
