Sep 26, 2013

Following a rigorous and comprehensive international search, today Clean Air Asia announced that Bjarne Pedersen has been selected by the Clean Air Asia Board to lead the organization as its new Executive Director, starting November 11, 2013.  Pedersen most recently served as Global Director at Consumers International, a leading international consumer advocacy organization and brings well over a decade of experience in senior management to the position. As Global Director, he led and managed staff across four continents including directors in Africa, Latin America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.  He has broad international experience, including in environmental issues and sustainable development, and a proven track record of achieving meaningful impact through strategic leadership, resource mobilization and team building at all levels.

Expressing Clean Air Asia Board’s confidence and support in the newly elected Executive Director, Chair of the Board Bob O’Keefe said, “[Bjarne] has a strong affinity for the mission and potential of Clean Air Asia and a pragmatic understanding of the challenges that achieving this mission will bring.  The Clean Air Asia Board is confident that Bjarne working together with the Board, Glynda Bathan, Deputy Executive Director and the entire Clean Air Asia team will take Clean Air Asia to the next level as an organization and as a strong force for action to improve health and the environment”.
