Enabling Change: The German Partnership for Sustainable Mobility

22 May 2014 @ 9:00 am

The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) are launching their new initiative “German Partnership for Sustainable Mobility” (GPSM). The GPSM is serving as a guide for sustainable mobility and green logistics solutions from Germany. As a platform for exchanging knowledge, expertise and experiences, GPSM supports the transformation towards sustainability in developing and emerging countries. It serves as a network of information from academia, businesses, civil society and associations.

The GPSM will hold its first kick-off event  on 22 May 2014 at the ITF 2014 Summit: Through intensifying the dialogue between developed and developing countries, the GPSM aims at supporting the implementation of sustainable transport solutions in a comprehensive manner. In cooperation with stakeholders from business, academia and society, the broad range of possible procedures, measures and technologies in the transport sector can be explored. The event will give information on the initiative, its purpose and further steps. Join our session if you are interested in the GPSM and take the opportunity to discuss with the participants.

As a key note speaker, Rehana Moosajee (former mayoral committee member for transport in Johannesburg/South Africa) will present on the introduction of BRT in Johannesburg and on opportunities and limitations of international cooperation for sustainable mobility.

Other speakers and panelists include:

  • Falk Heinen (BMUB)
  • Franz Marré (BMZ)
  • Oliver Lah (Wuppertal Institute)
  • Sebastian Schlebusch (nextbike)
  • Michael Gruber (KfW)
