On June 28th, Bridging the Gap released a newly updated publication “NAMA Submissions to the UNFCCC: An Overview from a transport perspective” reviewing the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) intentions communicated to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) from a land transport perspective. The aim of this paper is to provide an insight into the numbers of transport NAMAs submitted to the UNFCCC and additionally some examples of transport NAMAs that are yet to be submitted. The paper also considers briefly progress in MRV (monitoring, reporting and verification) in the context of transport NAMAs and NAMA finance. Bridging the Gap makes a number of recommendations that could encourage the submission of more transport NAMAs.
