Infrastructure Financing Facilities & Project Preparatory Facilities

The SLoCaT Partnership and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) are conducting preliminary research into the potential of IFFs and PPFs to scale up global investments in sustainable transport.  No comprehensive overview of IFFs and PPFs is currently available, and most available information from these facilities does not provide detailed information from a transport sector perspective.  Thus, an analysis of the current state of IFFs and PPFs through the lens of sustainable transport will be useful to bridge knowledge gaps that hinder the movement of fu

Database of City Initiatives on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport

2015 is a critical year for both sustainable development and climate change, and it is clear that national governments can not be expected to do all the work, and that cities must also play an key role in assuring that sustainable, low carbon transport makes its contribution to the sustainable development and climate policies. A SLoCaT Partnership analysis presents an overview of different city initiatives on sustainable, low carbon transport, in which action is taken by cities, mayors or civil society.

Transport Emissions of non-Annex I countries larger than Annex 1 countries in next few years

The latest estimates from the International Energy Agency (IEA) indicate that the transport sector contributed nearly 23% of global CO2 emissions from fuel combustion in 2012. Transport, with an average annual growth rate of 2.0% from 1990-2012, is among the fastest growing sectors of CO2 emissions from fuel combustion.

Governments Call for Eliminating Fossil-Fuel Subsidies

17 April 2015: A communiqué signed by the members of the Friends of Fossil Fuel Subsidy Reform group calls for countries to prioritize the phase-out of fossil-fuel subsidies ahead of the Paris Climate Change Conference. The Friends are urging all governments to endorse the statement; France and the US are the first countries outside the Friends groups to do so.
