Official Launch of the Transport Decarbonisation Alliance

We cordially invite you to join the official launch of the Transport Decarbonisation Alliance (TDA) on May 24th at 4:00 pm.

The TDA will be officially launched at the International Transport Forum in Leipzig, Germany. The TDA brings together leading countries, cities and companies who will work together to catalyse the accelerated decarbonisation of the transport sector.

Sustainable Transport Events at High-level Political Forum

Please see below an overview of transport events at the 2018's High-level Political Forum (HLPF). At this year's HLPF the main theme is “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies” and the forum will review Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

Asia-Pacific Climate Week 2018 – Session on Transport in Cities

During the Asia-Pacific Climate Week (APCD) 2018 in Singapore from 10 to 13 July, SLoCaT will organize in cooperation with CDP, CCAC, ICC, UITP and UNEP the Marrakech Partnership on Global Climate Action event on urban mobility. The title of the session is:

“Transport in cities – Parties and Non party stakeholders working together to deliver low carbon urban mobility”

Every Journey, Every Child: A global priority for urban sustainable development

Safe and sustainable mobility are integral to achieving the theme of the 2018 HLPF, ‘Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies.’ As populations and motorization increase, it is the poorest who bear the greatest burden of unsafe roads. The health and life chances of millions are held back by inequitable access to mobility.

Jamaica – a case study in fuel economy policy

The event will showcase the important work that the Global Fuel Economy Initiative (GFEI) is doing to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – with a particular focus on how the practical support and capacity-building that GFEI partners provide to countries to improve vehicle efficiency is contributing to the SDG7 target of doubling energy efficiency globally by 2030.

Sustainable Transport Events at Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS)

The Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) will be a main venue for climate action and new commitments to mitigate climate change will be made at the event. The transport sector and members of the SLoCaT Partnership are going to be active at GCAS. Various events on sustainable, low carbon transport will be convened during the GCAS in San Francisco. If you want to add your transport event to this overview, please contact Nikola Medimorec, Senior Researcher, nikola.medimorec@slocatpartnership.org.

Transport and Climate Change Global Status Report (TCC-GSR): Tracking Trends, Increasing Ambition

The Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT), a multi-stakeholder partnership of more than 90 international organizations, will introduce the forthcoming Transport and Climate Change Global Status Report (TCC-GSR). The TCC-GSR is intended to describe transport demand and emission trends and to illustrate related policy targets and measures, in a regular and actionable report.

Transport Decarbonisation Alliance

The Transport Decarbonization Alliance (TDA) brings together leading cities, companies and countries to accelerate the worldwide transformation of the transport sector towards a net-zero emission mobility system before 2050. The TDA builds on statements of intent by those Heads of States, Mayors and CEOs that have expressed their intent to decarbonize before 2050. It targets all transport emissions from all modes of passenger mobility and freight transport.

Transport and Climate Change Week

Highlighting the importance of transport to limit global warming, the second Transport and Climate Change Week fosters knowledge exchange and high-level contacts between transport colleagues from all over the world. To fight climate change together, around 60 transport experts especially from developing and emerging economies gather in Berlin to discuss ways on how to change transport for the better. Participation is by invitation only.
