Sustainable urban solutions will play a key role with a view to achieving both the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and international climate change targets over the next decades. The German Habitat Forum will provide a platform for discussion on how to design sustainable solutions for cities in the future, and will look at the key aspects of 'mobility' and 'urban infrastructure'.
The President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Mogens Lykketoft, will convene a high-level thematic debate on sustainable development, climate change and financing. This event is one of three high-level events the President will convene during UNGA 70. Lykketoft said on 19 October 2015 that the meeting will involve a range of stakeholders.
In 2015, France will be hosting and presiding the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21/CMP11), otherwise known as “Paris 2015” from November 30th to December 11th. COP21 will be a crucial conference, as it needs to achieve a new international agreement on the climate, applicable to all countries, with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C.
