On October 14th, a one day seminary was organized in Paris, France by CODATU focusing on the role of sustainable urban mobility in mitigating climate change. Theone-day seminary was facilitated by Olivier Razemon, journalist at Le Monde. The objective of the seminary was to gather decision makers and national and international urban transport experts to highlight the role of sustainable urban mobility on climate change mitigation.

On October 23rd, the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform (ADP) Co-Chairs hosted a follow-up meeting to the Technical Expert Meetings (TEMs) that were organized in the March and June 2014 negotiating sessions of the UNFCCC. This meeting took place during the sixth part of the second session of the ADP (ADP 2.6.), taking place from 20 –25 October 2014 in Bonn, Germany.
Busines for Social Responsibility (BRS) issued a summary report to distill key findings on the effects of transport on climate change from the recently released Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report. The report includes implications for road, rail, air, and shipping and is part of BSR’s Business in a Climate-Constrained World Initiative.
Nordic Development Fund (NDF) has recently approved two new transport adaptation projects that will develop adaptive capacity and integration of climate change aspects into planning and design of road transport infrastructure. In Mozambique, NDF, together with the African Development Bank (AfDB), will support the National Road Administration, and other key stakeholders, with capacity-building and additional tools to manage climate impact threats to road development.
The UNFCCC Secretariat launched a photo and video contest aimed at highlighting the benefits of the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism and the importance of market-based approaches in the international response to climate change. The two categories of the contest – photo and personal video – are meant to inspire participants to communicate a complex message in a way that might surprise, entertain and provoke thought.
On June 28th, Bridging the Gap released a newly updated publication “NAMA Submissions to the UNFCCC: An Overview from a transport perspective” reviewing the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) intentions communicated to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) from a land transport perspective.

GIZ organized a Side Event on “NAMAs in the Transport Sector” at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn. Around 70 representatives from various countries and organizations attended this event on the evening of 5 June 2013.
