UNESCAP calls for papers for the 85th issue of the Transport and Communications Bulletin
Sustainable urban transport practices are necessary to support the continued growth of cities in the region. Innovative policies and integrated transport planning which address the growing problems of fossil fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, traffic congestion and road accidents, are needed in order to provide a better quality of life for the people.

(GEF Washington D.C., December 09)– Transport is a crucial sector for sustainable development. When done right, transport can help expand economic opportunities and contribute to poverty reduction. However, rapid motorization is leading to congested cities, air pollution, accidents and rapid increases in greenhouse gas emissions – especially in developing countries – with global emissions from transport projected to increase 50% by 2030.
Cycling for Growth Plan has been released

SLoCaT Partnership is tracking UNFCCC Negotiations from a Transport Perspective
The Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT), along with the Bridging the Gap (BtG) Initiative are providing for the first time regular updates on how the COP 20 discussions are affecting land transport. In tracking the negotiations, the organizations will pay specific attention to:
(a) Pre-2020 Mitigation Ambition;
(b) Intended Nationally Determined Contributions;
(c) NAMAs;

On October 23rd, the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform (ADP) Co-Chairs hosted a follow-up meeting to the Technical Expert Meetings (TEMs) that were organized in the March and June 2014 negotiating sessions of the UNFCCC. This meeting took place during the sixth part of the second session of the ADP (ADP 2.6.), taking place from 20 –25 October 2014 in Bonn, Germany.

Importance of Transport NAMAs and MRV Highlighted in Two Sessions at the UNEP NAMA Workshop
The UNEP Regional Workshop on NAMAs was held in Ha Long City, Vietnam on October 1st to 3rd. Supported by GIZ, two transport sessions were held to exchange insights and facilitate discussions on the role of Transport NAMAs in implementing sustinable transport development in ASEAN countries.
