Civic Exchange is a Hong Kong-based, non-profit, public policy think tank that was established in October 2000. It is an independent organization that has access to policy makers, officials, businesses, media, and NGOs – reaching across sectors and borders. Civic Exchange has solid experience in air quality, energy, water, transport and urban planning for a liveable city, nature conservation, and climate change research, as well as economic and governance issues. Recent work in these areas include designing and running a five-day conference on climate change (which included a two-day workshop of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group that looked at electric vehicles), a review of urban regeneration policy, a forum on increasing the supply of nuclear energy in Hong Kong and China, a scoping study on water supply in the Pearl River Basin, research reports and engagement work to influence better ship emissions control policy in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta, and a study on Hong Kong’s walkability.
