Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action

Under the leadership of the High-Level Climate Champions, the Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action (MPGCA) supports the implementation of the Paris Agreement by enabling collaboration between governments and the cities, regions, businesses and investors that must act on climate change.

SLOCAT delivers the function as the official Co-Focal Point for Transport in the MPGCA by appointment of the UNFCCC.

Global Climate Action Yearbook and Climate Action Pathways

As an outcome for COP25, the MPGCA has released the Global Climate Action Yearbook for 2019 to reflect climate action initiatives and activities that serve to enhance ambition over time and recognises progress made particularly by non-party stakeholders. The Climate Action Pathways outline the longer-term vision for a 1.5-degree climate-resilient world from the perspective of non-Party stakeholders and sets out actions needed to achieve that future.

SLOCAT co-led the development of the Global Climate Action Yearbook for 2019 and Climate Action Pathway with the International Transport Forum (ITF), International Association of Public Transport (UITP) and International Union of Railways (UIC) with contributions from the FIA Foundation, World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure (PIANC), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat).

Guided hands-on by the High-Level Champions, a working group (ITF SLOCAT and UITP) has been set up to revise and update the Climate Action Pathway of Transport in 2020. Content contribution is led by a task force of stakeholders set up by SLOCAT and ITF. The document will be released at the Race to Zero Dialogues on 1-12 November 2020.
