Growing the Movement
New Partners, Shared Values, Stronger Impact
In 2025, we were proud to welcome Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) to the SLOCAT Partnership!
With on-the-ground experience in rural mobility and access, B2P builds trail bridges over impassable rivers in remote areas to provide safe, year-round access to healthcare, education and economic opportunities – addressing rural isolation as a root cause of poverty.
Their work is grounded in partnerships with governments and communities and backed by data collection and impact evaluation. By joining SLOCAT, B2P strengthens our collective efforts to advance inclusive and resilient transport systems that respond to real community needs, and keep rural voices central to the just transition.
Stay tuned for our collaborative actions and collective influence!
In 2025, we strengthened how we connect with our community and amplify the actions of SLOCAT Partners. We expanded our communication channels to Bluesky joining a growing community of scientists and NGOs to share evidence-based messages, and boost constructive debate across and beyond the sustainable transport community. We also revamped our website to become an enhanced and more user-friendly one-stop hub for all transport actors, including a dedicated library of SLOCAT knowledge resources, and a refreshed news corner.
Media and other key players echoed our 2025 flagship activities. Highlights include:
- At COP30, Energy Tracker Asia highlighted the ongoing challenge of decarbonising transport and the need for accelerated, equity-focused investments, featuring SLOCAT Secretary General, Maruxa Cardama.
- The SDG Knowledge Hub of IISD, published the article Will National Climate Plans Put Transport on Track for 1.5°C? co-signed by SLOCAT, International Union of Railways (UIC), International Association of Public Transport (UITP), Walk21, and World Resources Institute (WRI) calling for stronger transport ambition in Nationally Determined Contributions.
- Green Mobility Magazine published our article Climate Finance and Economic Mechanisms: Two Essential Yet Mismatched Pieces of the Sustainable Transport Puzzle, underscoring that reforms to finance and appraisal approaches are essential to unlock investment in sustainable transport and keep the sector aligned with climate and sustainability goals.
