SLOCAT is hiring: Director of Advocacy and Engagement

Apr 15, 2026

The SLOCAT Partnership is looking for a Director of Advocacy and Engagement to lead the strategic direction and delivery of our advocacy work programme.

This is a senior leadership role, working under the direct supervision of SLOCAT Secretary General Carly Gilbert-Patrick. The Director will shape and drive SLOCAT’s global and regional advocacy strategies, positioning sustainable, low-carbon transport as a non-negotiable pillar of climate and sustainability frameworks.

The role spans strategic leadership and agenda setting, policy influence at global and regional levels, partner activation and co-delivery across SLOCAT’s 100+ partner network, strategic communications, and team management. Key thematic priorities include co-creating a unified global transport goal with clear targets, navigating high-impact processes such as UNFCCC and the UN Decade for Sustainable Transport, bridging the global-to-local advocacy gap through regionalisation, and mainstreaming equity, gender, youth, and Global South voices across all advocacy work.

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, a proven track record in intergovernmental policy processes, deep expertise in the transport-climate-sustainability nexus, and strong skills in multi-stakeholder engagement, advocacy communications, and team leadership. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is required. Fluency in English is essential; French, Spanish, or Arabic are highly desirable.

This is a remote position with flexibility for 70-100% FTE. Regular international travel is required. Candidates must have existing work authorisation in their country of residence.

To apply, send your CV (max 3 pages) and a one-page motivation letter (including salary expectations, geographical base and right to work, and FTE preference) to secretariat@slocatpartnership.org and carly.gilbertpatrick@slocatpartnership.org by midnight East Africa Time on 15 May 2026.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed between 20-22 May 2026, with online interviews scheduled for 25-29 May 2026.
